Post 16 Pathways
At Quwwat – ul – Islam Girls’ School, we work closely with our local authority, Newham Council , to ensure that all Year 11 students receive clear, structured and supportive guidance when planning their Post-16 pathways. The transition from Year 11 to further education, training or employment is an important stage in every student’s journey, and our school is committed to ensuring that pupils are fully informed about the wide range of opportunities available to them.
Through the support and guidance provided by the Newham Council Post-16 team, students are introduced to a variety of progression routes, including A-Level study, vocational and technical courses, T-Levels, apprenticeships and further education pathways. This guidance is delivered through a collaborative approach between the council and local schools, helping students understand the qualifications, entry requirements and future career opportunities linked to each pathway.
At Quwwat – ul – Islam, we integrate this guidance into our careers programme and personal development curriculum, ensuring that students begin exploring their options early in Year 11. The school facilitates assemblies, workshops and one-to-one guidance opportunities, enabling students to hear directly from colleges, sixth forms and training providers. These sessions help pupils make informed decisions about their next steps and understand what different Post-16 settings expect from applicants.
As part of this partnership work, key local providers such as Newham College, New City College , Leyton College Sixth Form and many more, regularly engage with our students through in-school presentations, application workshops, careers events and open-day opportunities. These interactions allow students to explore different learning environments, ask questions about courses, and gain a clearer understanding of the pathways available after GCSEs.
